  • If you want to operate as your own tax business offering full-service tax prep and e-filing

  • Gives you the ability to enroll in bank product programs (advance loans, refund transfers, etc.)

  • Typically required if you’re using professional tax software as an independent preparer or firm owner

To register for your PTIN, please visit irs.gov/ptin and follow the prompts to complete the application. Kindly note that there is a $19.95 fee to obtain your PTIN.

Steps to Become a Paid Tax Preparer
